I developed arm & leg pain, swelling on my left side at the beginning of June. It was determined I was developing superficial blood clots but the reason was unknown. I spent June 10th at the ER as a result of this. I also had an appt on June 12th with an Oncology Hematologist to check all aspects of my blood. I started giving myself blood thinner shots daily. They were unsure why I was continuing to develop blood clots & with my past cancer history, it was even more complicated. I was tested for LUPUS. But the big concern is that blood clots are sometimes a “sign of a new cancer”. I could not believe my ears.
Follow-up GOOD – May 2009
My follow-up appts went well. Blood Work, CT Scan & Ultrasound of my thigh still reflected all good news!
State Exam Day – Nov 24, 2008
I sat for the Maryland State Exam for Massage Therapy & Bodywork. I passed but was not notified until late December. The wait was brutal!
Follow-up GOOD, Ultrasound – Nov 2008
My follow-up appts went well again. I graduated to getting an ultrasound of my thigh instead of a MRI. I am thankful as the MRI was a real challenge for me. The CT Scan & blood work was all good, see ya in 6 months!
Surgery – Rod in Femur – July 15, 2008
I had surgery to put a “rod” in my femur for bone strength. Due to the radiation of my thigh, the concern was my femur breaking with just walking. This was to insure no future breakage. I would again be on crutches but putting full body weight on my leg the next day. I chose to do physical therapy on my own this time. I did a lot of walking and water exercise to increase my leg movement & motion. Initially & for about 3 weeks, I could feel the rod in my bone. It was painful. But as it bonded to the bone, I could no longer feel it.
