Genetic Testing Consideration – Sept 2009

September 14, 2009

Dr. Guintoli was very concerned that I had developed 2 unrelated & major cancers in a 3 year period.  He recommended that I consider Genetic testing to see if there was a reason for all that had happened.  I asked about the benefit of it.  He indicated if “something” were found in terms of my genes, it would be useful to my siblings & relatives in my blood line.  I was wondering if the Dr’s wanted to know for Scientific reasons about what was happening in my body & the fact that I am surviving … just a thought.

He also told me he had gotten calls & email from my TEAM of Sarcoma Doctors.   They wanted to know how I was doing.  He indicated they were very protective & territorial of me & my health.  I just smiled & said, “thanks”.

Surgery Done – July 31, 2009

July 31, 2009

My hysterectomy was done on July 31, 2009.  I was thankful to have the cancer REMOVED.  However, this meant an entirely  new 5 year cancer “follow-up” schedule, oh joy.

Uterine Cancer Diagnosis – June 26, 2009

June 26, 2009

I had a uterine biopsy done on July 12, 2009.  On the 26th, I met with my GYN only to learn I now have UTERINE CANCER.  I was referred to the Chief of Oncology/Gynecology at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Guintoli.  My initial visit with him was great, as he gets where I am MENTALLY.  It’s been a rough ride & I am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy on July 31.

Arm/Leg Pain on Left Side – June 2009

June 10, 2009

I developed arm & leg pain, swelling on my left side at the beginning of June.  It was determined I was developing superficial blood clots but the reason was unknown.  I spent June 10th at the ER as a result of this.  I also had an appt on June 12th with an Oncology Hematologist to check all aspects of my blood.  I started giving myself blood thinner shots daily.  They were unsure why I was continuing to develop blood clots & with my past cancer history, it was even more complicated.  I was tested for LUPUS.  But the big concern is that blood clots are sometimes a “sign of a new cancer”.  I could not believe my ears.

Follow-up GOOD – May 2009

May 15, 2009

My follow-up appts went well.  Blood Work, CT Scan & Ultrasound of my thigh still reflected all good news!
